“This is a brilliant service improvement and really exciting technological upgrade, supporting modern, high quality CT imaging in for emergency patients.”
The clinical imaging team has been busy making plans for the change-over to ensure there is no significant service disruption during this time. Emergency Department and inpatient CT scans will be undertaken in the existing two multi-slice CT systems in the Trelawny Wing scanning department throughout the replacement project.
Extra capacity for urgent and inpatient scans will be created by transferring a significant proportion of outpatient CT scanning to West Cornwall Hospital, where the team will be operating longer days and running lists at weekends whilst the new Trauma CT scanner is being installed in Truro.
