RCHT’s Quality Improvement Hub

A number of colleagues attended the official launch yesterday of RCHT’s Quality Improvement Hub, located in the Princess Alexandra Wing. The evening kicked off with the wonderful RCHT Choir entertaining the visitors whilst Kate Shields (chief executive RCHT) and Jonathan Gray (chief executive, South West Academic Health Science Network) talked about the #JourneytoBrilliant.

More than 80 quality improvement ambassadors have already been trained; 414 improve well ideas submitted through the ImproveWell app. A further 35 quality improvement projects are underway; one significant success so far is that 99 percent of orthopaedic surgery is now done at St Michael’s Hospital, Hayle.

System working, system thinking and system quality improvement are all eagerly anticipated next steps that all in the room committed to. It was a great evening reminding us all ‘the art of the possible’.
